I grew up in Los Angeles, while trying to maintain my Japanese roots. I was raised by Japanese speaking parents, received schooling in multiple Japanese schools, however found it quite difficult to keep the culture alive. This piece represents the Japan that I feel remains inside of me – a Japanese flag with a withered sun.
